OVERVIEW
MYEcoPlan is a web-based tool to allow policy makers and urban planners to assess GHG emissions within their cities and also to simulate various low carbon planning scenario towards low carbon city development.
CHALLENGE
Traditionally, there was a lack of integration between land use planning and low carbon strategies particularly in carbon emissions calculation. Town planner does not have strong scientific basis in designing and integrating urban functions, facilities, and resource allocation.
SOLUTION
To address this shortcoming, MYEcoPlan system was developed to streamline carbon emissions into land use planning.
OUTCOME
In 2021/22 (a.k.a. Phase 1), the pilot system was developed and tested in selected areas within Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) in Johor. The system was successfully expanded to cover the entire jurisdiction of MBIP and replicated in an additional three (3) local councils in Malaysia – namely, Majlis Perbandaran Pengerang (MPP), Majlis Perbandaran Langkawi Bandaraya Pelancongan (MPLBP) and Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) in 2022/23 (a.k.a. Phase 2).
These have proof that the designed system is robust and scalable.
