Assessment of Carbon Credit Feasibility for Forestry

OVERVIEW

The project activity involved is an improved forest management activity where the forest is managed for wood products. 

The project area now avoids re-logging, which increase the storage of carbon stock. The project was established for the purpose of carbon sequestration through rehabilitation of degraded forest.  

CHALLENGE

Unable to identify and exclude the area of other land use types (e.g. wetlands, settlements) which affects the carbon sequestration estimation.

SOLUTION

To cross check the area given with the satellite image of the project area.

OUTCOME

Quantified the estimated carbon sequestration through the rehabilitation of forest and avoidance of re-logging.
